Healthy Scalp Means Healthy Hair
The foundation of healthy hair is a moisturized, flake- free scalp. Although most are aware of this fact, there is still some confusion about how to achieve a healthy scalp. Some question whether they should apply oil to their scalp or use special treatments to maintain the scalp’s health. The answer is simple. When your scalp is healthy you do not need to apply any products to it. A healthy scalp produces sebum, which is the natural oil that protects your hair. Unfortunately, this oil can build up on the scalp with sweat and styling products and encourage bacterial growth. If this build up is not removed from the scalp at least once every 2 weeks, it can cause flaking and itching.
If you are properly cleansing your scalp and begin to experience scalp problems, you will need to take additional actions to determine the root cause. Temporarily replace each product you are using, one at a time, and monitor the condition. If your scalp does not improve with the replacement products, consider changing your diet. Reducing refined sugar, gluten and dairy and increasing omega 3 oils like flaxseed and fish oils works wonders for some. You can also consider applying a scalp treatment that contains naturals like tea tree, neem, rosemary, jojoba, and almond oils to effectively treat chronic dry scalp and eliminate fungus and bacteria. If you are still unable to achieve a moisturized, flake- free scalp consider seeking medical attention. Your condition could be due to eczema or psoriasis and may require prescription medicine.
